This technique for painting faux wood planks in a raw, reclaimed hardwood look will work on real wood, laminate, concrete, almost any surface!
And it only involves 2 colors (3 if you prefer to get fancy) of clay and chalk based paint, water, and a plain putty knife/scraper!
You cannot mess this up as long as you go in the direction of the "plank".

*I recommend sealing it with only water based topcoats (Big Top, or Varathane water based sealer)
