Throughout its history, the OECD has played a central role in supporting international dialogue and exchange on tax policy. This mission was reinforced in 2009 when G20 leaders asked the OECD to step-up co-ordination in tackling offshore tax avoidance and evasion. This global fight has been one of the major success stories of international co-operation over the past decade. Today, over 135 members of the Inclusive Framework on BEPS are working together to address the tax challenges arising from the digitalisation of the economy, as well as to end international tax avoidance through greater global co-operation; both of which are particularly timely in light of fiscal challenges countries will face in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
