Remember, not all the patients infected with 2019 novel coronavirus present with symptoms of infection and those who suffer from infection can present with varying spectrum of symptoms, not just the typical ones which we all are aware of.

2019 novel coronavirus has incubation period of 2 - 14 days, that means the person may harbour the virus but still be asymptomatic. And let me tell you, a person can even transmit the coronavirus in this asymptomatic incubation period. Hence we need self quarantine and self isolation at HOME.

In a study done among 1099 COVID 19 infected patients in China, the following clinical characteristics were found.
1. Mean incubation period was 4 days
2. Males were affected more than the females.
3. Most common symptoms were: Fever, cough and shortness of breath. This is also supported by World Health Organisation and Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
4. Other symptoms included: Headache, sore throat, fatigue, myalgia and arthralgia, nasal congestion, hemoptysis and conjuctival congestion.
5. Digestive symptoms were uncommon. It included diarrhoea and nausea / vomiting.

In the early time of outbreak of coronavirus, it was well established that patients with COVID 19 have fever along with respiratory symptoms and signs and the prevalence of extra pulmonary symptoms was uncertain.

In another descriptive cross sectional multi center study done in Hubei China, it was found that :
1. Digestive symptoms are common and were present in 48.5 % of the patients.
2. Patients with digestive symptoms had a significantly longer time from onset to admission than patients without digestive symptoms.
3. Patients with digestive symptoms had a variety of manifestations that ranged from anorexia, diarrhoea, vomiting to abdominal pain.
4. In 3.4% of the patients, there were digestive symptoms only, no respiratory symptoms.
5. As the severity of disease increased, digestive symptoms became more pronounced.
6. Patients without digestive symptoms were more likely to be cured and discharged than patients with digestive symptoms.

Signs of COVID -19 include:
1. Tonsil swelling.
2. Throat congestion.
3. Enlargement of lymph node.
4. Rash

1. Physician diagnosed pneumonia : most common: 90%
2. Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
