This is a five year sediment trap you don't have to clean it out for shingle gravel but every five years.

During the fall you want to check this just pull some leaves out and then when you want to clean out that sediment trap for shingle gravel you remove the center. You just stick a garden hose in and you run it. I will tell you this - It doesn't matter how you build your roof runoff the shingle gravel falls off the roof and there's always a pile of it in the 90 degree fitting. Just push it to the sediment trap. Pop the top off and clean the sediment trap out. It's that easy.
