I found one! The 3rd rarest agate in the world! After about 45 minutes into my first hunt for the rare and elusive Ellensburg blue agate I found a really nice specimen. This one was sticking out of a horse hoof print. Rockhounding is one of my favorite hobbies. The Ellensburg blue agate is the third rarest agate in the world. It can only be found in the region of WA. Searching for the E-blue is one of the funnest hunts. It must be the thrill of the chase. The Green Valley area still has some blues, however most of the land is private property. This makes the agates even more elusive. Luckily, Steff's family owns 120 acres directly in the ancient extinct riverbed that fed the rare blue agates into the Green Canyon in Kittas County of eastern Washington State. This is to the left of the Rockin Tomahawk Ranch property. This is private property and not open to the public for hunting blues. The Tomahawk Ranch next door is open to the public. I can't believe it! We get to hunt for one of the rarest stones in the world! So fun! These precious gemstones were formed nearly 50 million years ago when glacier water flowed over volcanic basalt. No two blues are alike. Each Stone has a unique mineral structure made of 43 traces elements.

These stones make beautiful jewlery when tumbled and smooth. But I also think the Ellensburg blue agate raw is very stunning. These agates are said to have healing properties by the locals and Native Americans. These agates really have a nice energy. The blue color is almost hypnotic. The blue really pops when you see one there lying on top of the dirt. The e-blues are a sky blue color. It is said they get their color the same way as the sky, through refraction. Now, one of my favorite things to do in Washington is dig through mud and horse crap with my bare hands in the hopes of finding a blue rock.

This was our first one of six digs so more Ellensburg blue agate rockhounding vlogs to come soon!

I hope you enjoy my rockhounding video. :)
