This is a video of my presentation for the Digital Music Research Network (DMRN+17) conference held at Queen Mary University London.

The theme for this presentation develops arguments from my previous work on AI and popular music futures. I use Braverman's Alien Power as a means to describe not just AI but also that this is an ongoing process where, historically, the Music Industry was the previous incarnation of Alien Power. Thus, the work conducted by AI companies, despite the use of claims of democracy and tool distribution, also functions as a continuity of capitalism and, specifically, Alien power.

Abstract
This paper discusses AI, its effects on the production condition of users and conditions of alienation made possible by AI music applications.
