He held the record for most career three-pointers until 2021, when Stephen Curry surpassed him. During his college years at the University of Connecticut, Allen earned a reputation as a sharpshooter. He entered the NBA as the fifth overall pick in 1996, showcasing his scoring prowess with the Milwaukee Bucks alongside teammates Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell. Despite playoff success, an NBA title remained elusive, leading Allen to the Seattle SuperSonics. In Seattle, he further solidified his reputation, breaking league records for three-point and free throw shooting. In 2007, Allen joined the Boston Celtics, forming a formidable trio with Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. Their collaboration resulted in an NBA championship in 2008. After five seasons with the Celtics, Allen moved to the Miami Heat, where he embraced a reserve role, excelling in clutch shooting situations and contributing to another championship win in 2013. His iconic three-pointer in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals remains etched in basketball history. Allen's individual achievements include ten NBA All-Star selections, an Olympic gold medal with the 2000 United States men's basketball team, and holding the NBA record for career three-pointers until 2021.
