My first animated film, completed in 2003, when I was about 13. Hand-drawn, colored with colored pencils.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is my first solo animation project (before I had worked in groups on Animatics) and it's also one of the few I did not do a storyboard for (not a good idea, by the way). Instead I just listened to the music and animated what I saw in my head. I spent the first half of 2002 working on the pencil drawings, test-shooting them over and over. Then I colored the whole thing with colored pencils over winter break and New Years, hunched over the table while it snowed outside. I went through so much "Olive Green" pencils that I had to regularly buy them at the art store. I still have a few of them left in my drawer, but now they're nothing but stubs. ^_^" Despite how much work I put into the project, I never had an ending planned (which shows) and opted, in the last minutes of shooting with my teacher, John Teton, to hastily draw the transformation with my leftover pencil stubs. Looking back, I'm amused at the last shot, which shows the table and the sticky notes I used to keep the pages in place.
