Black Widow may be gone, but she’s in no way forgotten. After her tragic sacrifice on Vormir in Avengers: Endgame, it seemed like that was it for her character. But of course, we know that’s not the case. Black Widow’s solo movie is releasing soon and it’s a movie we’re incredibly excited for. Not only will it mean we get to see more of Scarlett Johansson and Natasha Romanoff, but it will finally provide audiences with answers regarding Black Widow’s backstory and where she came from.

And you can trace everything back to one thing: The Red Room. Inside this twisted, Russian spy program lies the key to unlocking Black Widow’s past. The Red Room made Black Widow and her relationship with the program is incredibly complex and sad. We’ve seen glimpses of the Red Room before and all the horrors it inflicted on Natasha, mainly in flashback sequences from Avengers: Age of Ultron, and now we’re finally getting more answers about our favorite assassin, Black Widow.
