In a truly genuine and heartfelt moment, Sr. Helena Madera-Silmi from the Misbaah Foundation in Sacramento opened up about her inspiring journey during MCC's Ramadan 2024's pre-Iftar talk, which was attended by our new Muslims cohort. Around a hundred convert sisters and brothers attended the program.

This talk was delivered at the Muslim Community Center - East Bay (MCC East Bay) in Pleasanton, California on March 17, 2024.

About the Speaker:
Sister Helena is an active community member and she has always put others before herself. She gives generously of her time to philanthropic efforts in the Muslim community. She currently is a Hijama therapist as well as as Resource Director! for Al-Misbaah Foundation. In this role, Sr. Helena procures household goods like furniture and clothing to give to newly-arrived refugee families.

Helena is originally from Cleveland, OH. She has been an active Hijama Therapist (according to the Sunnah) with over 23 years experience. She has worked with the Cleveland Municipal School District and Cleveland Clinic Foundation with over 15 years of experience in the Community Outreach Spectrum. Since moving to Sacramento, CA in 2015, she has made her passion for charity work flourish throughout the Sacramento Community.
