On August 14, The University of Texas System Board of Regents announced plans to launch a monumental health care initiative to accelerate and expand care in Central Texas – The University of Texas at Austin Medical Center. The new UT Medical Center will be built on the site of the Frank Erwin Center, which will be demolished by fall of 2024, and will start with two new hospital towers, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and a UT Austin specialty hospital.
