My friend's pet albino axolotl (walking fish) ate a worm from his hand. Although called a "walking fish", the axolotl is not a fish at all. It is a paedomorphic salamander related to the tiger salamander. It reaches adulthood without undergoing metamorphosis. Axolotl adults remain aquatic and gilled unlike other amphibian salamanders that morph onto land.

As legend has it, the axolotl is the Aztec god of fire and lightning. Xolotl was depicted as a dog-headed man and was a soul guide for the dead. He was also god of twins, monsters, misfortune, sickness and deformities. Xolotl is the canine brother and twin of Quetzalcoatl. The pair were sons of the virgin Chimalma. Xolotl is the dark personification of Venus, the evening star. He was associated with heavenly fire.

It was fun to watch it eating because it usually just sits there. These pets are allowed in Washington State. I filmed this. I am the owner this footage. All rights reserved.

I hope you enjoy my strange not a fish creature video!
