Dr Ghilan discusses the purpose of what we do in our everyday lives and our many pursuits including education, career or business. The transitory nature of life moves in phases to the ultimate transition of existence. Passing from this world to the next we are hit with the realisation that we take nothing with us, none of our titles, accolades, and material wealth mean anything in and of themselves. Arriving at this realisation before our death can trigger an existential crisis. This is not a matter of answering the larger question of life's purpose.
Topics addressed in this talk include the conception of Islam as a state of being as opposed to a religion, what makes humans different from animals, and the Quranic conception of how knowledge of God is attained.
