This video is in two parts - comparing the bike and comparing the riding

We wanted to run through the differences in the bike - and really show how similar it is - with the addition of the motor - giving everything you want from a Brompton

We also wanted to see how it rode - does it make life easier - so we strapped on a hear rate monitor, connected the Garmin computer and went for some laps around a 5 km circuit in Windsor Great Park

The weather was a good representation of the UK climate - raining!

We ran the non-electric black edition Brompton M6L first - to set an comparative time (of course we expected to get slower due to tiredness)

Then we tested the Brompton Electric - with the battery on the bike, but generating no assistance - so like a manual bike but with the extra weight of the battery / bag

Then we tested the Brompton Electric with the power set at level 1, 2 and then level 3 power modes

It should have just got more and more tiring with tired legs!

We put the data in a spreadsheet to make a simple comparison of speed , heart rate and calories burned per lap

Part one: Brompton Electric versus Brompton non-Electric
Part two : Ride / effort test - 5:46
