Came in force on 16 February 2005
COP7 at Marrakesh - Rules for implementation were adopted & called "Marrakesh Accords."
1st commitment period started in 2008 and ended in 2012 - GHG β5% against 1990 level
Aim to reduce emissions
2012- Doha Amendments β 2nd Commitment period 2013 to 2020 - GHG β18% against 1990 level
