The Volks Group welcomed 75 VW racers and offered action-packed drag races, along with fun activities at Medford Dragstrip, Oregon.

The way they race is unique. Each round is based on a three-day event, with qualifying (so to speak) on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday. Yet, Friday and Saturday's program is only run around Test & Tune sessions. So, how do they run the eliminations? Here is something unique about the Volks Group race: Promoters use a "chip pull" system, also drawing numbered casino tokens marked "L" and "R," thus matching pairs and lane choices. You never know who you will run and which lane you will get until you pull chips. You often witness exciting matchups early in the competition; for instance, a cool duel in the first round that you might typically see in the semi-finals or finals. Lucky factors will often help you bring a trophy home.

The next thing we want to highlight is something unrelated to the race itself: the mind-blowing food. Tom Kinney, Sherri Kinney, his family, and his crew served amazing Hawaiian breakfasts, lunches, and dinners to ALL racers during the weekend. They set up their Kinney Aloha Cafeteria with 20-30 seats and a huge table in the pits. Tom even brought a custom-built, huge BBQ trailer to cook food quickly. The cafeteria was a great hub during the weekend to get to know racers and their friends.
