I visited the new German Tesla Gigafactory in November 2023. Tesla’s Gigafactory in Berlin-Brandenburg was officially opened on March 22nd, 2022.

-- Please note that it is, unfortunately, not possible for the public or for customers to visit the Tesla factory. I was invited by Tesla Switzerland as representative of one the companies where I am engaged as a board member. --

What I can say about the Tesla Gigafactory in Berlin:

Initial plans for a European manufacturing site for Tesla were discussed in 2015 and after evaluating several possible locations in Europe incl. Portugal, France, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Spain and even Finland, the decision was made in favour of Germany.

The investment was approx. EUR 4 billion.

The production capacity is currently 500,000 Model Y per year, and when the next generation Tesla, the EUR 25,000 lead-in model, will be added, the production capacity in Berlin will be increased to approx. 1 million units making it the largest car plant in Europe.

Tesla Giga Berlin is one of the most efficient car plants in the world; producing the Model Y takes just 10 hrs, which compares to 30 hrs for a comparable product from a German manufacturer.

Filmed in Berlin in November, 2023, production by DNTS Productions.
