Ron (Maverick) came back yet again to the canyon for another ambitious hiking itinerary, this time bringing Katie (Braveheart). We hiked down the South Kaibab to Phantom Ranch and back up via Bright Angel trail. The high was 102 down at Phantom that day, so we got an alpine start at 4:25 am. Even with a stop at the river for a quick dunk/baptism for all of us (but especially Katie since it was her first time here), we still got to Phantom by 10:00 am. After lemonade, postcards, snacks, and a rest, our afternoon hike up was made very pleasurable by soaking in the creeks and wonderful cloud cover. We made it back to the top just in time for a shower, sunset at Yavapai Geology Museum, and dinner.
