Hamish McKenzie is a co-founder of Substack, a platform for independent writers and creators who own a direct connection with their audiences and make money from paid subscriptions. He is also the host of The Active Voice podcast on Substack, where he interviews writers and creators about how the internet has affected their lives and work. A writer and former journalist, Hamish was previously the lead writer for Tesla, a communications advisor to mobile messenger app developer Kik, and author of the book Insane Mode: How Elon Musk’s Tesla Sparked an Electric Revolution to End the Age of Oil.

Connie Loizos is the founder of StrictlyVC, a media company that publishes a daily tips sheet, a weekly podcast, and an event series focused on the people transforming the tech world and beyond. She is also the Silicon Valley Editor of TechCrunch, which she joined in 2015. She began reporting on the startup world at the original Red Herring magazine in the late '90s and has since worked for Time Inc., Dow Jones, Crain Communications, the San Jose Mercury News, and Reuters.
