Nestled within the Palo Pinto Hills, above the Brazos River, exists a place like none other... the Lucky Cross Ranch. This 432 +\- acre working cattle ranch has history steeped in legends and campfire stories. The name “Lucky Cross” comes from an old Indian legend. If they were lucky, the river at either end of the ranch’s property would be low enough for the Comanche’s to cross. After crossing on horseback they could then double back on anyone following them or presenting a threat.

Located 8 and 1/2 miles west of Mineral Wells, with over 2,000 feet of frontage on the Brazos River. This ranch offers unlimited recreational activities including hiking, canoeing, tubing, fishing, camping, and hunting for wild turkeys and native deer. There are improved pastures for cattle and grazing and over 31 inches of rainfall each year. Additionally, there are several stock ponds and a deep-water well to supply water for the ranch house and improvements.

Custom built in 2001, the ranch house is comfy and cozy with hardwood floors out of old box cars and beautiful stucco walls. With plenty of room for the family or overnight guests, the one-story home features four bedrooms and two baths. There is a delightful cook’s kitchen that opens to the spacious dining area and overlooks a casual outdoor courtyard area through a wall of windows over the kitchen sink. For the chef that likes to bake and cook, there are stainless steel appliances with a dual fuel range that features two ovens and eight burners with an overhead exhaust fan, a large refrigerator, and a full size dishwasher.

Other improvements include a barn with a separate one-room apartment and plenty of equipment storage and space for a tractor and other farm implements. There is also a separate casita with a full kitchen for outdoor entertaining and grilling.

The Ranch’s beauty has drawn attention from numerous organizations looking for the perfect Texas backdrop. Neiman Marcus recently came out for a photo shoot, Texas Brand Chili shot an advertising campaign, and Texas Tourism took pictures for their 2009 brochure right on our property!
