This year the only goal was to actually grow melons. But in a different way versus past successful seasons. This was the first year I grew melons with the entire garden already consumed with strawberry plants. I had no doubts that it could be done, but in past successful years I have always used thick layers of fresh grass clippings as a top dressing. This year was the first time in a while that I was going back to actually trying to grow melons, but without my secret sauce (grass clippings). In the last 2 years I was not trying to grow melons as a goal, instead I was just observing growth as part of an experiment in which both years were part of the same. This garden continues to evolve as a source of different growing methods with the ultimate goal of simplicity.
