In this video I'm showing an ebike I built with a non gear reduction 24v DC brushed motor all the parts were bought on Amazon. This was a cheap build, cost without batteries $70 USD includes 24 volt motor, DC brushed controller with throttle, 16T freewheel sprocket, 25H 68T sprocket and 25H chain. My batteries are restored older free finds so you will need to add about $50 USD for two new 10ah or 12ah lead acid batteries. I have ordered some new batteries and will do an update video on performance, I might also try a lithium battery pack. I built this ebike because I wanted to see if it was possible to build an ebike with an inexpensive non geared 24v DC brushed motor. I used a scrap kids bike because I used a non gear reduction motor, I don't believe it would be powerful enough on a bike with larger wheels. I wanted to build an ebike that could climb hills and not just give an assist, with this set up the bike is fully functional with all it's gears so even if the batteries die you're not stuck without gears. To charge I use a 12 volt battery charger and charge batteries separately, I also use an old 24v lawnmower charger and plug into the bike directly. I welded the freewheel sprocket to the hub of the bike wheel, make sure you know the proper direction of the motor and sprocket. You don't have to do any welding if you buy a freewheel adapter and remove the cassette off the wheel and install two 16t single speed freewheel sprockets with the adapters, everything can be found online. I chose to mount the motor over top of the wheel there's a few reasons why, I didn't want the motor near the peddles or my legs also I didn't want to change the size of the chain that came with the 25H sprocket. I know a lot of people don't weld but you could built this without welding if you drill the bike frame and bolt and screw the mounts together. I will do more detailed videos on building the ebike, performance and wiring if you would like more info. Big Thanks to my Subscribers! hope your all doing good.
