1 in 5 pregnancies involve a complication or end in miscarriage or stillbirth. This news is usually identified or confirmed by ultrasound, and in the UK, sonographers are the first to share this news with expectant parents. However, there is no evidence-based or mandatory training course to prepare obstetric sonographers with this challenging task. The INDIRA COACH project is funded by the Sir Halley Stewart Trust and will adapt and evaluate the first communication coaching intervention to help sonographers with news delivery.
