Welcome back to Ugly Truck! Today Emily's back on the 1965 C10 and ready to tackle preserving this patina. After we got this truck running, we took it to the carwash and it looked much better. But why stop there! Armed with nothing more than a box of SOS Pads ($4) and some high traffic floor polish ($20), Emily gives this old Chevy a serious transformation! This is commercial grade polish, so this finish should be pretty durable. We're hoping for many months (or years!) before we need to recoat. We ended up with a nice satin finish, which dries quickly with no greasy, oily film like other wipe on recipes. With this method, there's no mixing products. Just scrub it down with SOS Pads until you have the look you're going for, then grab an old sock and start wiping on some ZEP High Traffic Floor Polish. For a $25 total investment, this is a great way to seal and protect the look of any rat rod on any budget.
