What’s the “The Scorpion King: Rise of a Warrior” movie about?
A long time before he became the Scorpion King, Mathayus (Michael Copon) witnesses his father’s murder at the hand of Sargon (Randy Couture). A few years later, Mathayus serves Sargon, now king of Akkad, while secretly preparing his revenge. Once his training is complete, Mathayus is tasked to kill his own brother Noah in order to prove his loyalty. Instead, Mathayus saves his brother and flees with him. They’re unfortunately followed by a magic arrow which kills Noah after they’ve left the city.
Accompanied by his childhood friend Layla (Karen David), Mathayus continues his quest by boarding on a ship to Egypt, where he plans on obtaining the Spear of Osiris to pass through Sargon’s black magic protection. On their way, the two friends meet the Greek poet Aristophanes (Simon Quarterman) and learn from him that the Spear of Osiris is only efficient with Egyptian creatures, and that the Sword of Damocles is the weapon they actually need. Aristophanes then join their adventure and travel to Greece with them, in order to enter the Underworld where they will find the Sword of Damocles, the only weapon that is powerful enough to defeat the evil Sargon.
