The relatively new Sequoia TRD Pro was graced into my hands for a week thanks to Toyota and boy is this one interesting. Coming in around $80k, it is a big, heavy, practical yet unpractical, “hybrid” overloading machine. It’s a niche truck with some imprsssive features, some a bit behind, and some disappointments.

🏁 @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Dead is the 5.7L V8 and in its place is a new hybrid 3.5L TwinTurbo V6 making 437HP and 583 lb-ft of torque. This is paired to a 10 speed gearbox and sent to a true 4WD system with three locking differentials. It also is able to tow around 9,000lbs 🏁

Highs:
+ It simply looks EPIC. No matter the color you choose, everyone will be staring you in the TRD Pro Sequoia.

+ It has the capability, with a part time, not full time, 4WD system, lockers, skid plates, unique FOX suspension, off road cruise control and a fantastic 360 camera system.

Lows:
-Inside build quality is NOT up to an $80k standard at all, lacking some tech features, extremely questionable cargo space

-The Hybrid system is here for torque fill, not true effeicncy. Is it better than the old V8? Yes. But still expect 15 to 19 MPG on average… and the 22.5 gallon tank is 10 gallons short of being on par with the Tundra.

If you REALLY need the TRD Pro, or have the money and want to flex, you’re set. But opting for a lower trim Seauoia with the off road pack is more than enough.
