Peapod started in 1989 in a grocery store in Evanston, where orders were transferred via dial-in modems. As it evolved, the company experienced both the benefits and challenges of being a first-mover, having to manage the hurdles that came with change while also being able to uniquely innovate and strengthen its operations.
