Yesterday, 10/8/21 was 30 years to the date since Eric Clapton’s double Live album, 24 Nights was released. If you’ve been following me, you know how much this album means to me. It taught me how to listen to others and give a song exactly what it needs to be its best. The performances on 24 Nights are what I consider perfect. The album sees Eric navigate his way through 4 different band arrangements with complete mastery (4 piece band, blues band, 9 piece band, and orchestra). The audio mix by Alex Haas is simply unreal. A few months back, I had the unbelievable opportunity to speak with Alex Haas about his work on 24 Nights.

Pretending is a song most people associate with Eric from this time and it's one of my favorites from 24 Nights / Journeyman.

Gear:
I used the Acapella App on iPhone to record these clips on a split screen. I'm using a Fender American Deluxe Ash Strat with a Clapton loaded pickguard (vintage noiseless pickups, TBX and 25db boost) into a Line 6 Pod XT simulating a Soldano SLO 100, amplified by a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe in Tweed. The sound was recorded right onto my iPhone. Happy birthday, 24 Nights.
