Mare of Easttown episode 6 just debuted on HBO and HBO Max. Mare is recovering from her injury and mourning detective Colin Zabel’s death. Dawn and her daughter Katie Bailey are finally reunited and the kidnapper doesn’t seem to have any connection to Erin’s murder. Beth’s brother Freddie passes away after overdosing in his house.

The biggest revelation comes in Erin’s case, with Billy confessing to his brother John that he killed her. This is still somehow suspicious because of the way it plays out. John tells him I need to hear you say it, I need to hear you say you killed her, and then eventually Billy does. The Ross brothers have become the prime suspects in both Erin’s murder and being DJ’s real father, but it seems like there is still more to learn. Mare believes that Billy is the killer after talking to Lori, and she’s on her way to find them at their father Pat’s fishing cabin. It looks like John may have a plan to kill Billy, but the younger brother noticed the gun in John’s tackle box.

Mare was reinstated to the police force, and continued to go to therapy. In her session we found out what happened the day her son Kevin committed suicide. Because Mare asked her to go to the house and check, Siobhan was the one who discovered his body. This has been a source of stress in their relationship.

With just one episode left in the limited series most of the side stories are starting to conclude. Dylan’s connection with Jess is still a mystery, and he threatens her with a gun in episode 6. She takes the photo she took from Erin’s journal and gives it to the Chief at the Police Station. Mare is about to confront John and Billy Ross without backup on the river. This may be when she makes the arrest that will bring Erin’s case to a close.
