The Kia Sportage 2022 model range has arrived, with S, SX, SX+ and GT-Line grades available. There are three engines to choose from - but no hybrid at the time of launch, sadly.

Instead, buyers have the choice of a turbo-diesel, turbo-petrol or a non-turbo petrol, and that latter base model motor has a choice of manual or automatic transmission, too!

But the engines are part of the story - this new generation Sportage is bigger, bolder and better than ever before. It has more advanced safety, more in-car technology, more space and comfort features, and a more aggressive look than before, too.

But the question is - does the 2022 Kia Sportage stack up for customers who might otherwise be considering a Hyundai Tucson, Mitsubishi Outlander, Subaru Forester, Nissan X-Trail, Mazda CX-5 or - CarsGuide's reigning midsize SUV champion, the Toyota RAV4?
