In this instalment of Drifter Reviews, I review the charming Hotel on Pownal, a trending boutique property in the heart of downtown Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. This hotel combines comfortable and inviting rooms, generous customer service, free perks, and an extensive list of amenities in order to maximize guest experience (and the fact that it’s affordable makes it all the better!). My spacious room featured a large, plush King bed with a huge Smart TV and fully stocked minibar. Rooms are tastefully appointed with modern decor and fixtures, and offer a warm, cozy, and inviting atmosphere to settle into. The hotel is perfectly located, just two blocks from City Hall and Confederation Centre in the heart of downtown Charlottetown.

Along with an extensive hot breakfast buffet, each weekday afternoon from 5-6 pm you’ll be treated to a selection of pints of Gahan Beer from the Prince Edward Island Brewing Company (owned by their parent company, the Murphy Hospitality Group) or kick back with a glass of wine as you wind down your day in style. They also offer free freshly baked chocolate chip cookies every afternoon. Everything the Hotel on Pownal offers is intentionally thoughtful and focused on raising the customer experience to a new level, and I was very impressed with the quality of accommodations and the high degree of customer service that I encountered here. Other amenities include a coin-operated laundry facility, a well-equipped fitness centre, free wifi, a business center, complimentary bike rentals, free parking, and a free EV charging station.
