Our DITL on the Dalton Highway. The weather has turned, and it is now cold and rainy. Which means the Dalton Highway is all MUD! We start the day with a little visitor on the roof of our truck camper. We got up, made some breakfast and were greeted with the most beautiful rainbow we have ever seen. The colors were so vivid, you could actually see the violet! And with the Brooks Range as the setting for this rainbow- it made for a spectacular sight!
After exploring the creek that we were parked by, it was time to leave the spot we stayed for the night and make our way south to Wiseman, about 67 miles south of us. 67 miles on the Dalton takes almost 2 hours when going 25-30 mph.

We reach Wiseman and explored the tiny old mining town with its log cabins and sled dogs. Then we took a small gravel road less traveled not knowing where it goes or how long it is.

We find some beautiful rocks on the Middle Fork Koyukuk River right by Wiseman. Then head down to Coldfoot for the night. Coldfoot is the only place other than Fairbanks and Prudhoe Bay that has cell service. And its about the halfway point on the Dalton Highway. We had an awesome day on the Dalton as we head back to Fairbanks. Even if it was a bit muddy and cold.
