Oldies but goodies: After the success of their famous “Whassup” commercials from 1999, Budweiser by Anheuser-Busch followed up with the “Jersey Guys” in 2001, also called “How you doing”, “How you doin” or “Hiya Doin”. It was a series of commercials that continued the “True, true” tagline and was a parody of the Sopranos-esque New Jersey accent. They never reached the success of the Wassup commercials but they were Emmy nominated and still are a lot of fun to watch. The first spot of the series was the first beer commercial ever to be shown during The Academy Awards, as far as I know.

Starring: Ned Eisenberg, Patrick Gallo, and others

The phrase “How you doing” is associated with New Yorkers of Italian descent, especially with the mobster / mafia stereotype.
