The Tesla Model Y has been out now for just over a year. And although production ramp has hit its max, Tesla continues to work on expanding capacity.

Tesla's new Giga Factory Austin will indeed be producing the Model Y alongside the Cybertruck. With updates recently we found out that the Model Y is likely going to start production 1 month prior to the Cybertruck.

What else we have discovered is that the new Model Y from Giga Austin will come with the new 4680 battery cells. This new form factor is going to be a giant leap forward in range and cost for the Tesla Model Y.

What we don't know for sure is how much range will be increased with the new 4680 cells in the Model Y. What we do know is some rough numbers from Battery day which would indicate that the new cells, if they do maintain existing capacity, would in theory increase the range from 326 miles to over 500 miles.

In reality, it is likely that Tesla will either increase range to 400 miles or they will simply decrease the battery size and maintain the existing range we see in the long range all wheel drive Model Y.
