This is an introduction to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther’s Treatise “The Freedom of a Christian”, first published in 1520. Luther argues against the abusive practice by the church of his time to ‘sell’ salvation. In this treatise, he discusses the nature of salvation – how does it work, and whose is it to grant? In the video, there are three “Times to Pause and Ponder” in which you are invited to pause the video for 5-10 min, write down your thoughts on specific questions, or discuss them with a co-viewer. Please have paper and pen ready, if you would like to participate in this way. If you have further questions or thoughts you would like to share with me, please put them in the comments. Thank you!
