OHMYGOD HEY!

The upcoming West End transfer of the hit Broadway play 'Slave Play' by Jeremy O'Harris has recently caught the attention of the British press (as well as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak) for planning two 'Black Out' performances during its 13 week run, to which entirely black-identifying audience members will be invited to attend.

Though many have been quick to call this racist, the practice is not new, either to this play or to London theatre, and in fact affords this community the opportunity to engage with the work freely and authentically.
