Planning a road trip is always exciting, but have you ever wondered about the real cost behind those miles of adventure? Today, we're going to go into the world of road trips in a Tesla Model Y and uncover the financial and practical aspects that come with it.

Charging your Tesla at home has an initial one time investment of around $500 for the wall charger + the installation. Charging a Tesla at home offers convenience, but what about the price per kilowatt-hour? On average, residential electricity rates are around $0.13-.15 per kWh in the United States. Charging a Tesla Model Y with its 75 kWh battery at home would cost you about $10 - $13 for a full charge.

On the other hand, if you choose to use a Tesla Supercharger, which provides faster charging speeds, the cost per kWh can vary by location. Generally, it's higher than home charging, averaging around $0.28 per kWh. A full charge at a Supercharger could cost around $21.
