NASA'S ARTEMIS 1 MISSION, An In-Depth Look at the Space Launch System, with William Whittenbury. NASA's Artemis I mission from November- December 2022 marked the first time a spacecraft designed to carry a crew has visited the moon since 1972. This historic test mission paved the way for future crewed exploration of Earth's nearest neighbor, in a more comprehensive and sustainable program than Apollo with growth potential to eventual Mars missions. Artemis I was enabled by NASA's new Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, the most powerful operational launch vehicle ever built.
