The groundbreaking primetime newsmagazine AMERICA IN BLACK returns for a second season with two, new original episodes premiering during Black History Month. AMERICA IN BLACK has become a vital and authentic platform for in-depth investigative reporting, compelling newsmaker interviews, engaging human interest stories, and exclusive celebrity profiles. Comedian Roy Wood Jr. returns this season with his “Mic Drop” commentary segment. Additionally, AMERICA IN BLACK welcomes the return of veteran BET News anchor Ed Gordon to the network after an 18-year hiatus as special correspondent. CBS MORNINGS featured host Vladimir Duthiers and special correspondent Soledad O’Brien also join AMERICA IN BLACK this season.
The February 20 installment will feature CBS MORNINGS co-host Gayle King in a sit down interview with Victoria Monét’s rising stardom and chart-topping hits; a story on the trailblazing food critic Keith Lee reported by CBS News anchor and correspondent Michelle Miller, and a profile of Maryland Governor Wes Moore from CBS New York anchor Maurice DuBois.
Maurice DuBois co-anchors CBS2 News weeknights at 5 and 11 pm. At CBS News, he substitutes as anchor of the "CBS Evening News," has reported for "60 Minutes Sports" and "CBS Sunday Morning," and has hosted "CBS Mornings" (formerly "CBS This Morning"), "48 Hours" and CBS News' streaming network.
DuBois has covered everything from local news to national political conventions, to AIDS in South Africa, to Papal transition at the Vatican, to witnessing a double execution. He has anchored numerous live breaking news stories, and moderated debates for New York Governor, NYC Mayor and Congress. He has also hosted multiple specials on topics ranging from mental health, to kids and violence, to breast cancer, to ticker-tape parades and telethons.
DuBois has won several journalism and community awards, including five Emmys. He's also won honors from The Associated Press, The New York State Broadcasters Association, and The New York Association of Black Journalists, which recognized him as a Trailblazer.
