Alongside its virtual reality offerings, Huawei also markets glasses to make the most of films and series on the move. New Vision Glass have been announced.

Vision Glass is a bit of an intermediate step before virtual reality headsets. Lighter and less bulky, this product is also much more limited in its use since it simply allows you to watch video content. But Huawei saw big, very big even! Once on the nose, this pair of glasses indeed projects before the eyes the equivalent of a 120-inch screen. Enough to offer an unparalleled immersive experience, and on the move.

The device weighs only 112 grams, far from the current large VR headsets. Admittedly, the Vision Glass remain quite thick (21 mm), but we will look less like an alien on the bus when catching up on an episode of the series. Technically speaking, these glasses incorporate two 0.49-inch micro OLED screens (1,080 x 1,920 pixels, 60 Hz). The field of view is 41 degrees, while the maximum interpupillary distance (the distance between the centers of the two eyes) is 63.5mm.

The brightness can go up to 480 nits, the intensity of which can be controlled with the help of a 5-level wheel. The screens provide 90% DCI-P3 compatibility. As far as audio listening is concerned, the Vision Glass use open acoustic technologies, in other words no need to wear additional headphones, without disturbing the neighbors. The glasses are not autonomous, they need to be connected to the smartphone (or a tablet or a PC) which will broadcast the content to the device.

The price of this device is 2,999 yuan (about 405 €). Huawei has not announced whether the Vision Glass will be released outside of China.
