Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari’s house was chosen by Allah(SWT) to host the Prophet(S) in Madinah until his house was built. That is one of the things Abu Ayyub is famous for. Out of all of the Ansaar, Abu Ayyub’s tribe was the only tribe that was related to the Prophet(S) by blood. Therefore, he becomes a very distant cousin of the Prophet(S).

After five days of staying at Quba, Prophet Muhammad(S) finally arrives in Madinah with his camel. As he entered the city, multiple tribes welcomed him. Though he said, “Let her be, for she has been commanded by Allah(SWT)”. So the camel wandered through the streets of Madinah until it entered the subdivision of the Banu Najjar. It continued to go until it sat down next to an empty plot of land on the right side. That place eventually became the entrance of the Masjid of the Prophet(S). Now the camel went and came back to the exact same location where it had sat down before, but this time it facing the other way. The house next to the Prophet(S) now is the house of Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari.
