The Sacramento Valley & Eastern Railroad was one of the small, private companies that built and operated rail lines important to mining operations in Shasta County in the late 1800s and early 1900s. It connected area mines, smelters, and settlements to one another and to the main Southern Pacific rail line that ran to Sacramento and San Francisco in the south and Oregon in the north.
