How to start a pool cleaning business
Do me a favor and try to block out the noise for just a few minutes while I teach you this. My name is Ryan with srvcly and I'm sitting in my moms basement as I write this letter to you. I'm going to teach you what they aren't, and that is, how to form your business.

Its very simple. There hardest part you are going to run into is mentally making the decision to start. Once you do that, I can teach you the rest.

You can make so much money cleaning and repairing pools, its insane. Most people don't believe me when I tell them I was making over $100,000.00 NET a couple years into my pool service and repair business. I'm no longer trying to get you kids to believe me, I'm now using my time to focus on the ones who are serious about getting started, so if that's you then listen up!

The first step
Once you've mentally decided to start your own pool cleaning business, YOU are going to want to file a limited liability company, also referred to as an LLC. This is going to protect you and your assets in the event that you get sued. So get one!

The second step
Once you have your LLC you are going to need a EIN. This is a nine didge tax identification number that you need, in addition to your LLC, in order to open a business bank account. You are going to need this number for multiple reasons, so save and memorize it. Its kind of like your businesses social security number.

Many websites, including Legalzoom, will try and charge you for an EIN, but you can get yours for free by going to the IRS website. Look here!

The third step
The third step in starting your pool cleaning business is to open your business bank account. You and your business are separate from one another. Keep it that way. Don't accept payments to your personal account. Make sure that money goes to your BUSINESS BANK ACCOUNT!

Your business is its own ENTITY and should be SEPERATE from personal bank accounts.

Once you have your LLC and your EIN walk into the bank of your choice and tell the banker you want to do some business.

The four step
The four step is so gosh damn important, I would not recommend stepping foot onto any customers property before you complete it.

With the work that you'll be doing for your customers pools, being in their backyard, working with water, adding chemicals, working on their pool equipment, you need insurance.

General Liability Insurance will protect you in the event an accident occurs due to you being on the property. So listen...... GET IT!

And Das it!
So NOW that you have your business formed you can start leaning about pools. There are three main areas that you are going to want to focus on.

Circulation
Filtration
Water chemistry

The most important is water chemistry.

Here's a trade secret for you. Most pool guys out there don't know a darn thing about manipulating water. If you can learn this single thing, you'll be ahead of 90% of established pool service techs out there, already making money.
