These ain't your daddy's Saturday morning cartoons. These are some of the greatest action cartoons from the Land of the Rising Sun, where cartoons are called "anime." This is Toonami: Rising Sun.

This is a compilation video I put together using footage of commercials and episodes from shows that played on Cartoon Network's Toonami: Rising Sun Saturday morning block (from 9 in the morning to noon, although the times varied during its run) in the year 2000. Certain shows (specifically Thundercats, The Powerpuff Girls, Batman: The Animated Series, and the Garlic Saga episodes of Dragon Ball Z) can't be used for copyright reasons. These shows were substituted with other great cartoons and shows that played on Toonami around the same time. Think of it as a retro remix or a bootleg Saturday morning broadcast.

This is the eighty-sixth video I've made like this, the twenty-first video I've done on Cartoon Network, and the seventh Toonami video I've made. It's also my third attempt at making a Toonami: Rising Sun video. The first version was uploaded June 26, 2021 and got blocked worldwide over Gundam Wing footage. The second version was uploaded a month later on July 10, 2021 and was blocked in the US over Sailor Moon footage, meaning it can still be seen from outside the US (or if you're using a VPN or proxy I guess). I remade this third version from the ground up so if you had watched the first two versions this one will still be new to you. Although Gundam Wing got the first version of this video blocked, the Gundam Wing episode I'm using is claimed but not blocked, so I decided to include it because I guess it's okay. There were a lot of options as Rising Sun was a short-lived block and didn't feature a lot of shows, with many of them blocked on Youtube. The alternative was including another show that played on Toonami at the time but not on Rising Sun, like Reboot, which I did do in second version. It's for this reason that I included two episodes of Dragon Ball Z, although some versions of the schedule had two episodes. Tenchi Muyo! has a custom outro I put together because the credits get blocked, and some of the bumpers are also custom made by me. And yes, it is anachronistic to have Tenchi Muyo! and Tenchi Universe playing on the same block as Muyo! was replaced by Universe, but I'm not going with 100% accuracy with these videos. Again, it's a retro remix. Wow, that was a lot of words. Glad to see you made it through all of them (or skipped to this part).
