With Kia, it’s all about the driving experience.
The Drive Mode Integrated Control System puts the driver in control, allowing you to select the Drive Mode you prefer.
Let’s see how it works:
There are up to five different Drive Modes, if equipped:
Smart…
Sport…
Comfort, sometimes called Normal …
And Eco.
All-wheel drive models may also have a Snow mode.
You can change modes quickly and efficiently according to your preference or the road conditions.
To change the Drive Mode, simply rotate the knob or press the Drive Mode button to select the desired setting.
When Smart mode is activated, the system automatically selects the drive mode that is best suited to the current driving style, whether it’s Eco, Comfort or Sport.
This is all based on the driver’s habits, from accelerator, brake pedal and steering wheel operation.
Smart Mode automatically controls gear shift patterns and engine torque in accordance with the driver’s driving habits.
When Sport mode is selected, a red Sport indicator is illuminated on the instrument cluster or the LCD displays the mode selected. On select models, the drive mode will also be displayed in the audio head unit screen.
This setting provides a sporty, but firm ride.
When Sport is selected, fuel economy may decrease…
And shift effort may be slightly increased for a sportier feel.
Steering effort and engine logic are also refined to deliver enhanced driver performance.
When Eco mode is selected, a green Eco indicator is illuminated on the instrument cluster or the LCD displays the mode selected. This setting helps to improve fuel economy by limiting air conditioner performance…
Acceleration may be slightly reduced to save fuel, even when the accelerator is fully depressed…
And the shift pattern may change – again, to help improve fuel economy.
In some models, if the vehicle is turned off when in Eco mode, it will default to Eco mode when the vehicle is re-started.
When Comfort or Normal mode, is selected, it is not displayed on the instrument cluster or on the audio system screen.
This setting is designed to provide a soft, comfortable ride.
All-Wheel Drive models may include a Snow mode, which is designed to distribute power to the four wheels, helping improve traction or reduce wheel slippage when driving on snowy or slippery roads.
If equipped, in CUSTOM mode, the driver can select and combine separate modes. These settings may include personal preferences for powertrain and steering settings.
Keep in mind, in most Kia models, when the ignition is cycled, the Drive Mode resets to its default mode, Comfort or Normal, except for ECO mode. In some vehicles, ECO remains in ECO mode when the engine is turned off, then on again.
Again, remember, to change the Drive Mode, simply rotate the knob.
The Drive Mode Integrated Control System allows you to personalize your driving experience.
