The month of Muharram is the first month of the Islamic calendar and some Muslims believe that it is bad luck to marry in this month. Mufti Menk advises us that while one can draw lessons from the historical incidents that happened during this month, such as Musa (A.S.) and the martyrdom of Hussain (R.A.), there is nothing wrong with marrying in the month of Muharram or any other Islamic month. There is no basis for the concept of bad luck in Islam.
