From the USA TODAY NETWORK and YouTube, it’s VRtually There, a weekly adventure with three cool VR experiences.

Defend against NHL great Alex Ovechkin in VR!

Alex Ovechkin is the captain of the Washington Capitals – and the top scorer in the NHL of the past decade. So what happens when USA TODAY report and amateur goalie A.J. Perez jumps in net against Ovechkin? Let’s just say a puck to the mask isn’t out of the question.

Experience what it’s like playing against one of hockey’s greatest players.

Swim with sharks off the coast of Oahu in VR!

When you think of being in the ocean, unprotected, with sharks, you probably imagine a scene from “Jaws”: razor-sharp teeth, thrashing limbs, more than a little blood.

“A common misperception is that just because you’re in the water with a shark it’s going to eat you; that’s obviously not true,” says shark conservationist and marine biologist Ocean Ramsey (@OceanRamsey), who runs One Ocean Diving in Hawaii, off the island of Oahu.

So what does it feel like swimming with one of the earth’s oldest predators?

“You really feel like you’re weightless. It’s kind of that feeling of freedom, where it feels like you’re connected to everything,” says Ramsey. She’s three miles off shore on a research tour, collecting data on sharks to better protect them. If she doesn’t seem afraid, it’s because she isn’t.

Experience what it feels like to swim with these fearsome creatures of the deep.

Tour vibrant, beautiful Hong Kong in VR!

Hong Kong is an amusement park of a city, full of wonders both natural and manmade. The world’s largest fleet of double-decker trams offers a front-row seat to one of the world’s most vibrant cities.

Take a ferry ride across Victoria Harbour for an unobstructed view of the city’s skyline.

Then escape the hustle and bustle to nearby Lantau Island, where one of the world’s largest seated Buddhas presides over the mountains. The best part is how you get there: glass-bottomed gondola.

Take a breath. Take it in. And don’t forget to look around!
