Superman is arguably one of the greatest characters in the history of fiction. The DC Comics superhero practically invented the genre, and since his Superman first appearance superhero comics, superhero movies, and superheroes in general have become a mainstay of global pop culture. But not everyone is a fan of the Man of Steel, and the Last Son of Krypton has more haters than he has supervillains in the DC Universe. One of the main complaints about Superman is that he’s too powerful, that Superman is boring because he can’t be killed. Well, over his long run Clark Kent, Kal El, or Superman has died on more than one occasion, in his own comic book and in the various Superman movies and adaptations.

From the classic green Kryptonite to a touch of magic, the death of Superman has tantalized fans for years. From the classic DC Universe to the DCEU Batman v Superman, BVS, Dawn of Justice, Superman is almost as compelling dead as he is alive. Lex Luthor, Superman Doomsday, Zack Snyder… Many have tried to kill Superman, but after every Superman death he just keeps coming back for more. Maybe it’s the love of Lois Lane, or his dear mother Martha Kent that keeps him out of the grave, but whatever the reason, he’s one of the most resilient superheroes out there, and his various Superman deaths have kept fans and haters alike thrilled every time Superman dies.
