Today, 103 young women and OVC caregivers received their certificates of completion for their 6-months vocational skills training at Bethesda Church in Nhlangano.
Aimed at alleviating the spread of HIV/AIDS and equipping them with skills to provide for their basic needs, WVE settled the training fees, costing over E1.6 million through its project, Likusasa Ngeletfu in collaboration with the Livelihoods Technical programme. The training was focused on these vocational skills: Electrical, Plumbing Sewing and Welding.
The National Director for WVE, Tinah Mukunda, highlighted that World Vision's goal is to zero down poverty.
“As you graduate today, you are fulfilling the goal of the organisation which is to move communities out of poverty.” Tinah said.
One of the graduates under plumbing, Nokwanda Dolly Simelane expressed her gratitude for acquiring a lifetime skill that will her family's life:
“I will now be able to support my parents as they are old and also support my child by taking him to better school. I wish to open my own business through the skill I learnt here instead of working for someone", she said.
