Lisa Leonard Dalton, the Sloopy Girl, had a connection with Gazzarri's night club in Hollywood. I know Lisa, so I enjoyed watching this video that featured her predecessors -- the sixties' era Gazzarri Dancers.

"Our story begins in the mid-'60s. The TV show "Hollywood A Go- Go" (1964-1966) featured a dozen talented female dancers, some of whom were discovered at Gazzarri's. They were called "The Gazzarri Dancers." Their shoot 'em up dance routine to the Top 10 pop hit "I Fought The Law," by the Bobby Fuller Four, was an example of how and why The Gazzarri Dancers earned a reputation for being the hottest Go-Go dancers in the U.S.A.

Meanwhile, as the Gazzarri Dancers performed this routine in November ‘65, Lisa Leonard (married last name Dalton), was 9 years old and living in Illinois. Her family moved to LA when she was a teen. A decade after this show was broadcast, Lisa, a "Miss Gazzarri" dance champion, was selected to dance in Rick Derringer's 1975 remake of the song "Hang On Sloopy." It was filmed at a Hollywood studio backlot when she was 19 years old.

The rest of the story is pop culture history. When Lisa Leonard Dalton, put on that tank top, shorts, and a denim newsboy cap, she breathed new life into the "Gazzarri's tradition for dance excellence. Her "Sloopy dance" is a pop culture phenomenon -- one of the sexiest dances in all of rock 'n' roll history. It remains an online sensation that has been viewed by millions of Sloopy Girl fans."

Watch her dance at the link below, or you can click on it within this "Jukebox Alive" video.    • “𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗻 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗽𝘆” 𝐑𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗗𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 & 𝗟𝗶𝘀...  .

Historical notes:
This "Hollywood A Go-Go" segment aired on November 6. 1965. Those Gazzarri Dancers credited in this episode were DeAnn Mollner, June Fairchild, Maria Pogee, Jacqui Landrum, Dawn Michaels, and Gwen Selvage. Learn more about the Gazzarri Dancers at http://www.gazzarridancers.com/

Other notables, who earned the title "Miss Gazzarri," were actress Catherine Bach (Dukes of Hazard) and Barbi Benton (singer, actress and Playboy model).

Eight months after this Nov. 1965 performance, rising star Bobby Fuller would be found dead in his mom's car in an L.A. parking lot near his apartment. Was it suicide, murder, drug related, or a mob hit? The debate rages on even today.

This Jukebox Alive video now has a high quality stereo soundtrack.
